Please note this post pertains to the recycling event held in Spring of 2008!
Delta County residents will have the opportunity to recycle old electronic items on April 26th, 2008 from 10-2 in the southeast corner parking lot of the Delta Wal-Mart. Citizens should take advantage of this one- day event, as there is currently no way to legally and responsibly dispose of electronics in Delta County. You will be able to recycle cell phones, all computer components, TVs, fax machines, scanners, stereos and VCRs. A small fee to offset shipping and recycling costs will be charged for each item that you recycle and you may pay this fee with cash, credit cards or with a check.
Electronics contain toxic materials, and if not properly recycled can result in major environmental and health problems. LifeSpan Technology Recycling has been establishing public/private partnerships in order to provide service to residents and municipalities in rural areas where the shortage of electronic recycling facilities is most acute. The electronic items that you drop off will be transported to LifeSpan’s Denver facility to begin the process of recovering and recycling the components of each item.
The Friends of Delta County Recycling and Wal-Mart have organized this e-cycling opportunity, in conjunction with LifeSpan Technology Recycling. If you have questions, please call 399-2940 and leave a message.
